Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz revealed that coach Craig Berube’s fiery intermission speech ignited the team’s stunning comeback victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.
Stolarz, who signed a new four-year, $15 million extension before the start of this season, has seen his performance slip this season to 6-5-1 with an .889 save percentage. There were a couple of goals that appears to just slip through the control of his pads that the goaltender admitted he would like back.
Despite his recent challenges, Stolarz has had a mixed record against the Bruins throughout his career. In four regular-season appearances against this formidable opponent, he holds a record of 2-1-1. However, his GAA against the Bruins is still a concerning 3.44, which reflects the difficulties he has faced in critical moments.
