U krainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video that he said showed his country’s new “Long Neptune” cruise missile, which has a range of up to 1,000-kilometer (621 miles), in action against Russia. It was unveiled in March 2025 after successful testing and Zelensky said it is being used in combat.
The video, likened to a scene from "Mad Max," was geolocated by NBC News to Pokrovsk, where fierce battles have been taking place as Russia pushes to capture the city.
Video from Sterlitamak in the Bashkortostan region, which is around 1,000km (620 miles) away from the border with Ukraine, captured an explosion at a petrochemical plant. Regional governor Radiy Khabirov later said Sterlitamak was attacked by two drones and “debris fell in an industrial zone”.
An incentive program allows Ukrainian drone operators to compete for points, which are redeemable for new weapons and equipment online.
At least two people have been killed in a drone attack in Ukraine’s Odesa region, according to Ukrainian authorities.
