UFC 322 Report: Where do Islam Makhachev and Valentina Shevchenko rank all-time after title wins?
Nope. Two days out from UFC 322, Ewing gets the call to replace an injured Cody Haddon and fight the undefeated Malcolm Wellmaker, one of the most hyped prospects at 135 pounds. The bout was bumped up to featherweight, Ewing hit the mark, and following a whirlwind 48 hours, he ended up fighting AND WINNING at a sold-out Madison Square Garden.
Valentina Shevchenko was already one of the greatest female fighters in the history of women's MMA. At UFC 322, she beat one of her peers in that group. Convincingly.
Valentina Shevchenko came away from UFC 322 with her flyweight title in hand after a unanimous decision win over Zhang Weili in the co-main event from Madison Square Garden.
Valentina Shevchenko and Weili Zhang met in one of the biggest women's fights in MMA history at UFC 322. Headlined by another massive title fight featuring Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev, UFC 322's co-main event saw Zhang move up from the strawweight division to challenge Shevchenko for the women's flyweight belt.
For years, Zhang dominated the strawweight division over two title reigns, and she decided UFC 322 in New York City was the spot to move up and pursue a second title. She even vacated her 115lb belt, allowing Mackenzie Dern to scoop it up, in order to make the fight happen.
Islam Makhachev became a two-division champion and utilized a dominant grappling game to take the welterweight title in the main event from Jack Della Maddalena. Wrestling was the name of the game in the co-headliner, too, as Valentina Shevchenko defended her women's flyweight title against former two-time strawweight queen Weili Zhang.
