After Comcast acquired NBCUniversal in 2011, the network was rebranded to NBCSN. It ceased operations in 2021 in response to the challenges facing the traditional cable TV market, as NBCUniversal shifted its sports programming to USA Network and its streaming platform, Peacock.

In the second month of CHSN’s second year, McCarthy sees signs of growth that have him bullish about the future, even as the headwinds of cord-cutting and downsizing blow at gale-force speeds across the industry.

NBCUniversal will debut a reimagined NBC Sports Network on Nov. 17, bringing a 24/7 linear sports channel exclusively to pay-TV subscribers.

The Pac-12 announced a five-year partnership with USA Sports that will begin in 2026-27, adding that network to existing deals with the CW and CBS Sports.
